Day 1 — Philae, Kom Ombo and your first night on the water

Your journey begins in Aswan, where your private guide meets you at your hotel or the airport. First stop: the magnificent Philae Temple, relocated to Agilkia Island to save it from the rising Nile. Dedicated to Isis — goddess of love, healing and magic — it tells the stories of Osiris and Horus through remarkably preserved carvings.

Then you step aboard your Turquoise Dahabiya, settle into your cabin, meet the crew, and sit down to a freshly prepared lunch as the sails catch the breeze.

By afternoon you reach Kom Ombo, Egypt’s unusual double temple, dedicated equally to Horus the falcon god and Sobek the crocodile god. Its symmetrical design and famous medical carvings make it one of the river’s most distinctive sites. Dinner is served under the open sky, and you sail on to Maniha Island for the night.

Day 2 — Cliffs, kayaks and island life

Breakfast on the sun deck, then a morning at Gebel El Silsila — the ancient sandstone quarry that supplied the stone for many of Egypt’s greatest temples. Towering cliffs and rock-cut shrines, and almost nobody else there.

For a closer connection to the river, there’s a kayaking experience here — the landscape looks entirely different from water level.

Back on board, you sail to Bassao Island, where village life still follows the rhythm of the river. Lunch is served as the boat drifts toward Al Fawza Island, where the afternoon belongs to tea, deck chairs and slowly passing scenery. Dinner, then anchor for the night at Al Fawza (Al Saraj Island).

Day 3 — Edfu and the long, lazy sail

Breakfast as the dahabiya approaches Edfu, home to the Temple of Horus — one of the best-preserved temples in all of Egypt. Towering pylons, intact halls, carvings that still feel sharp after two thousand years.

Afterwards? Sailing. Real sailing, with lunch on deck and the riverbank doing what it has always done — farmers in the fields, fishermen casting nets, children waving. Evening brings you to Badr Village near Esna, dinner beneath the stars, and one more quiet night on the Nile.

Day 4 — Esna, Luxor and the Valley of the Kings

A final breakfast on deck as you sail into Esna, where you visit the Temple of Khnum — the ram-headed creator god said to have shaped humanity on his potter’s wheel. Its hypostyle hall and astronomical ceiling are a fitting last chapter.

From there, a private transfer takes you to Luxor, and to the Valley of the Kings — the royal necropolis of Tutankhamun, Seti I and Ramesses II. Then on to your Luxor hotel or Luxor International Airport.

Day 1 — Luxor’s giants, then north to Qena

You’re met at the airport or your hotel, and the day opens with two of Egypt’s headline acts: Karnak, with its forest of enormous columns, and Luxor Temple, covered in battle reliefs. In the afternoon you board your private dahabiya and sail north, leaving the city behind. First night: Qena.

Day 2 — Dendera, and a village where time slows down

Morning at Dendera Temple, one of Egypt’s best-preserved treasures, dedicated to Hathor, goddess of love and beauty. Then the dahabiya turns back toward Luxor, stopping at the village of Garagos — a quiet walk through its streets, conversations with residents, a look at a traditional way of life that hasn’t changed much. Night moored at Luxor.

Day 3 — The West Bank, then sailing to Esna

Cross the Nile to Luxor’s West Bank: the Valley of the Kings and its hidden royal tombs, then Hatshepsut’s Temple, rising against the cliffs. As the sun drops, the sails go up and you head south to Esna for the night.

Day 4 — Through the lock, into El Kab

An early breakfast as the boat passes through the Esna Lock — a small piece of theatre, and a genuine window into river life. You visit the Temple of Esna and walk the town’s busy streets. Then it’s on to El Kab, where tombs are carved into the cliffs and the stories of Nekhbet, the vulture goddess, are cut into the walls. Night at Imam Island, under the stars.

Day 5 — Edfu, and Bassao Island’s simplicity

Breakfast, then the Temple of Edfu, where you can practically feel Horus watching from the walls. Later: Bassao Island, where life feels genuinely unhurried. The boat moors near the sandstone cliffs of El Selsela Mountain.

Day 6 — Quarries, a double temple and a camel market

Morning at the ancient quarries of El Selsela, then on to Kom Ombo Temple, shared between Sobek and Horus. The day ends somewhere most travellers never get to: the camel market at Daraw, where local trade plays out in front of you. Night at Herdiab Island.

Day 7 — Aswan and Philae

A last breakfast on board as you sail into Aswan. After checking out, you visit Philae Temple, sitting alone on its island — a graceful ending — before your onward transfer.
